Taking a Closer Look at the Industrial Fasteners

Industrial fasteners are extensively used in the various types of industries, military and aerospace establishments, construction and so on. It is difficult to imagine the normal functioning of many things without the use of reliable fasteners. These fasteners are quite sturdy, corrosion resistant and weather resistant. The chromium is added to increase the corrosion resistance of the fasteners and it also enhances their strength to a great extent. The nuts and bolts that are manufactured by using the stainless steel immediately meld together because of the presence of chromium layer on the surface of stainless steel that gets exposed just before they are fastened. During the screwing process, oxygen escapes from the equation resulting in the solidification of the bond. This process is also termed as "galling".

The fasteners that are used in the industrial applications follow 3 main sizing standards. They are; ISO (the International Organization for Standards), SAE (the Society of Automotive Engineers) and ATSM (the American Society for Testing and Materials). These three US organisations have their own set methods of manufacturing and measuring the fasteners used in the various industries. All these three are best for the end users, but are used in the varied applications in the industry.
